Whyteleafe played some good football at times in this match but two late goals from the visitors saw Leafe's poor run continue and kept the Rebels just behind the play off places.

The opening exchanges were fairly even but few chances were created. The first good chance fell to the visitors Darren Budd who shot across the face of goal in the 18th minute. After half an hour Luke Gedling found Steve Davies in the box and his shot hit the post and bounced clear to safety. Within a minute Leafe had their first chance when a fine run from Fabian Batchelor saw him advance towards the goal and only a fine saving tackle from Glen Woodburn denied him.

A minute later Danny Dudley had a header from an Ashley Snadden corner blocked, then in the 35th minute, another Snadden corner found John Cartledge at the back post. He put the ball into the middle but Dudley turned the ball over the bar from close range. Karl Douglin had a 41st minute shot saved by Alan Mansfield then a minute later, Paul Smith saved with his feet following a fine run and shot from Tom Lawley.

Leafe went close to opening the scoring in first half stoppage time. Mansfield made a fine save as Dudley headed another Snadden corner towards goal. From the rebound, Batchelor's overhead kick was caught under the bar by Mansfield.

Worthing started the better in the second half, Budd going close twice and Lawley saw a 58th minute shot on the turn go wide.

Leafe then had their best spell of the match. Batchelor beat 3 defenders in the 68th minute before finding Stephane Gnamore in the box. His shot went wide. Just as Leafe looked as though they would take something from the game, Worthing attacked in the 73rd minute and following a goalmouth scramble, Woodburn scored from close range. Things got worse for the hosts in the 83rd minute when Budd got the ball on the edge of the box and chipped over the outrushing Smith into the net.
