Whyteleafe went down to another defeat this time to high-flying Whitehawk. Leafe did enjoy some good moments but yet again failed to score.
'Leafe had the advantage of the slope in the first half and had a good share of the play. In the seven minute Delando Smith's chip was caught by keeper Chris Winterton.
The Hawks lost their central defender Sam El-Abd to injury in the tenth minute but this did not hold them back for long. They took the lead in the 19th minute when from a corner on the right, Kyle Vassell headed home from close range.
Scott Simpson was causing the home defence problems as he was prepared to take on the defence and created a number of chances. A good through ball in the 25th minute looked to have sent two Leafe forwards clear but a great saving tackle by Stuart Tuck denied the visitors.
Dan Aldous received a yellow card for a late challenge in the 31st minute and was then taken off as he had been unwell and was struggling.
Simpson won the ball in the 35th minute and played a defence opening one two with Elliott Mitchell, then hit a fine shot that Winterton did well to tip round the post. Winterton repeated the feat with another fine save from the resultant corner from Ashley Snadden. It found the head of Pitterson but Winterton again pushed it round the post.
Jerson Dos Santos made a good run down the right in the final minute of the first half. He pulled the ball back and Mitchell tried an overhead kick that was well saved by Winterton.
Leafe had created enough chances in the first half to come out with some optimism. Simpson put Dos Santos clear in the 49th minute but his shot was just wide of the target.
A long ball from Simpson two minutes later found Dos Santos in the box but his header went straight into the arms of Winterton. At the other end Tommy Fraser went close in the 53rd minute, then the hosts increased their lead in the 55th minute. Their most influential player, Paul Armstrong played a great ball through to Ben Godfrey who made no mistake in putting the ball past the injured Paul Smith. He was then forced to limp off the pitch and Ricky Borrett took over in goal.
The hosts then cruised through the rest of the game, with Borrett making a number of good saves, however there was nothing he could do to prevent a fine strike from man of the match Armstrong to score the third in the 75th minute. Fraser nearly made it four in the 83rd minute when his header from Sam Fisk's cross hit the bar.
Whyteleafe: P Smith (Borrett 58), Aldous (Dos Santos 32), Henry-Brown, Fleming, Cartledge, Mitchell, D Smith, Snadden, Pitterson, Bent (Brown 74), Simpson. Subs not used: Douglin, Halili.
