HYTHE TOWN 4 - 0 WHYTELEAFE
Tuesday 6 December 2011
Ryman League Division 1 South

Whyteleafe went down to a heavy defeat at the hands of newly promoted Hythe although the scoreline looked worse than the game as a result of two very late goals.

The hosts took an early lead in the third minute. A long throw was misjudged by Paul Smith and allowed Thompson to score from close range. This was to prove the only goal of the first half with both sides making many mistakes. Elliott Mitchell went close with a shot after 14 minutes but Leafe had few other openings in the half.

Hythe thought they had extended their lead early in the second half when they found the back of the Leafe net but the linesman had flagged for offside. They did however extend their lead through veteran striker Jimmy Dryden. Jerson Dos Santos had a free kick from a good position, but the kick was intercepted and from a quick break by the home side the ball was struck crossfield to Dryden who coolly slotted home from the edge of the box.

Leafe still had chances to get back into the game right up until the 90th minute Dolan but the game beyond any doubt scoring the third after capitalising on a mistake by Danny Dudley.

Whyteleafe's misery was completed in stoppage time when Dryden scored again from close range following a scramble in the goalmouth.
