Surrey Senior Cup round 2
Whyteleafe progressed comfortably through to the next round with an easy victory over Combined Counties side Chessington and Hook.
The first good chance fell to Jerson Dos Santos in the 10th minute. His 25 yard free kick was well saved by Ashley Smith. Dos Santos then beat three defenders in the 15th minute, his blocked shot fell to Elliott Mitchell who shot just wide.
The hosts took the lead in the 27th minute when a fine run by Scott Simpson who beat two defenders and shot past Mark Daniels, who had come on as substitute for the injured Smith, and into the net.
Leafe had to wait until stoppage time at the end of the half for their second when Dos Santos cleverly found Jay Garrick on the edge of the box and he fired home.
Whyteleafe started the second half well, but the visitors had a brief spell midway through the half when they gained some possession and could have got back into the game. Adam Welch had a shot blocked in the 58th minute then three minutes later, outjumped Ricky Borrett to win a loose ball but Dan Aldous was on hand to clear off the line.
The lively Kyle Green won a penalty for the visitors in the 64th minute when he was brought down in the box by Tyrone Wedderburn. He took the penalty himself but it was well saved by Borrett. Two minutes later Green had another great chance but saw his shot strike the post and bounce away to safety.
That turned out to be the end of the threat from the visitors and two goals in a minute made the game safe. The first of them came in the 69th minute when Kwabena Agyei found Garrick in the box and he shot past Daniels into the net. A minute later Dos Santos found Simpson in the box and he fired home his second and Leafe's fourth to put the tie beyond any doubt.
