Whyteleafe came away with nothing from a game that they dominated for long periods thanks to a combination of excellent goalkeeping from man of the match Rob French and some indifferent finishing. Leafe will be comforted that they had such a good run in February that picking up points for survival is no longer a worry. They remain nine points clear of the relegation places with just three games left and a superior goal difference.
The game started at a slow pace and neither keeper had anything to do in the first half hour. Damien Abel curling a shot wide for the hosts in the 10th minute and Fred Fleming heading over in the 28th were the only real chances.
The real action of the first half came in the closing minutes when the visitors twice went very close to opening the scoring. In the 44th minute a Bentley Graham corner was met by a fine header from Fleming that needed a superb save from French to clear it off the line. In stoppage time at the end of the half, a Graham free kick found Fabian Batchelor in the box, and his header clipped the outside of the post.
Leafe came out strongly in the second half and were totally dominant but just could not find the back of the net. Dan Sweeney put Batchelor clear in the 50th minute but he shot weakly at French who made an easy save. Two minutes later Leafe thought they had taken the lead when Ryan Thomas beat his defender on the right, and floated a cross to the far post where Stephane Gnamore caught the ball perfectly, striking a sweet left foot volley that seemed destined for the top corner of the net but French somehow got his fingertips to the shot and tipped it over the bar.
Graham then found Ashley Sneddon in the box in the 56th minute but he shot over. A minute later, Thomas' pace saw him out run two defenders and into the box where he attempted to chip the outrushing French but his effort was too strong and went over the bar. Another run from Thomas in the 61st minute saw him find Gnamore in the box but his shot was saved. A minute later French made another good save to tip a Batchelor shot on the turn round the post.
On a rare break in the 63rd minute, Faversham gave a warning to Leafe when Dean Grant's header hit the bar.
Leafe however continued to look the more likely victors. Thomas volleyed over from a Sneddon cross in the 70th minute. Three minutes later Sweeney struck his shot over the bar after Gnamore had put him in following another cross from Thomas.
After all of the pressure, the Lilywhites took a 77th minute lead when Grant headed home from a Dave Botterill corner. Leafe never seemed to recover from this set back and the hosts played out the final minutes with confidence to hold on to the three points.
