Whyteleafe took the honours in this boxing day derby with their second consecutive away win coming from behind on a heavy pitch to clinch the points.

The visitors had the first chance of the match in the third minute. Ryan Royston sent Sam Butler away on the left wing. He beat the defender and his shot from a narrow angle was caught by keeper Colin Harris.

In the ninth minute Fred Fleming was cautioned for a foul just outside the box. Colin Hutchings took the kick but shot over the bar. Two minutes later the lively Lee Sidwell won the ball in midfield, made a run at the hosts defence, beating two defenders before shooting wide. Then later Sidwell made another good run down the right but his cross was too near the keeper with Leafe having a three on three situation in the box. A minute later Daryl Coleman took a quick free kick to Jordan Wilson whose 30 yard shot went just over the bar.

Leatherhead had a great opportunity in the 17th minute when Rhys Coleman brought down Kevin Terry in the box but Rob O'Hara made a great save from Hutchings' spot kick.

'Leafe's next chance came in the 29th minute when Wilson made a penetrating run into the box, being denied by a great saving tackle from Iain Hendry. Jason Goodchild was brought down on the edge of the box in the 35th minute. Butler's free kick went off the wall for a corner. Butler took the corner which came off a defender and hit the outside of the post. Just before half time, Sidwell found Royston just outside the area but his shot was too high.

Leatherhead came out on the attack at the start of the second half and Hutchings was denied in the 49th minute by Royston who headed his effort off the line. But the hosts took the lead in the 55th minute when a long ball from Hill found Hutchings in space. He made up for his earlier penalty miss with a well struck shot into the back of the net that left O'Hara no chance.

Stuart Massey brought on Danny Oakins to add strength to the attack. In the 65th minute a long throw from Daryl Coleman was flicked on by Royston to Fleming whose shot was deflected for a corner. Coleman took the corner which found Fleming at the far post, but he was taken by surprise, expecting Harris to claim it, and his header was wide of the target.

Massey then also brought on Darren Watson to add more strength to the attack. This strategy paid off in the 82nd minute when Leon McDowell received the ball from Lee Sidweel on the right. His cross was into the path of Oakins who caught the ball first time with a superb volley to give Harris no chance and claim the equaliser.

From this moment onwards there looked to be only one winner as 'Leafe were inspired by this goal. A minute later Oakins almost had a second, forcing a good save from Harris following a run and cross from Butler. Oakins had to hobble off in the 85th minute following a clash that saw him cautioned. He was back on after a couple of minutes and Fleming found him in space. He put Sidwell clear in the box and his shot produced a fine save from Harris. Butler took the resultant corner from which Watson headed just wide.

Two minutes later Harris made another great save to deny Rob Kember's shot after McDowell had found him in the box. Butler's final contribution of the match before hobbling off for a late substitution came in the 89th minute with a superb corner that picked out Watson in the box who headed into the net from close range for Leafe's winner.

Whyteleafe: O'Hara, Sidwell, Wilson (Oakins 60), Fleming, Coleman R, Royston, Goodchild (Watson 73), Kember, McDowell, Coleman D, Butler (Hammond 90).
