Whyteleafe and Whitstable produced an entertaining game despite the scoreline. The visitors were the better side early on and although 'Leafe gradually got on top, overall a draw was a fair result. The point gained keeps both sides clear of the relegation battle, but both will need to continue to pick up points to stay clear.

'Leafe had the first chance of the match when a Mark Hammond corner was partially cleared as far as Ryan Gray whose volley from 20 yards was just too high. A minute later David Cory broke away but Rob O'Hara did well to get down to his shot and turn the ball wide of the post.

Gray beat two players in the 7th minute then found Callum MacLean on the edge of the box, his shot on the turn was saved by Kevin Fewell. Two minutes later, Gray took a short corner to Hammond and his cross was headed wide by Asher Hudson. O'Hara saved well from a James Campbell header just before Ian Pulman broke clear but for some reason went to ground in the box and was given a yellow card for diving.

Whitstable thought they had taken the lead in the 22nd minute. Cory headed Tom Parker's free kick against the bar and Pulman put the rebound into the net, but he was in an offside position and the goal was ruled out. Pulman then headed over from a Parker corner, before Parker tried his luck from a 30 yard free kick, firing it just wide of the target.

Hammond found Gray at the far post in the 28th minute with a long cross but his header was too high. Hammond then found Lenny Piper in the box in the 32nd minute but his cross took a deflection and caught Piper off balance. Two minutes later O'Hara was quickly out to save at the feet of Pulman.

'Leafe won a corner in the 41st minute but the visitors broke out quickly and had a four on two situation and looked odds on to score, but Clint Gooding shot straight at O'Hara.

Whyteleafe came out strongly in the second half and started to dominate. In the 46th minute, Piper headed over from an Adam Broomhead cross. Four minutes later Richard Dimmock won the ball on the edge of the box; his shot took a deflection and Fewell tipped it round the post. MacLean was unlucky in the 55th minute when Gary Sayer headed his shot from a Hammond corner off the line.

Ali Reeve's 58th minute cross deflected off the head of Liam Quinn just wide of the post for a corner. The corner was partially cleared to MacLean on the right. He cut inside, beat three defenders, then found Piper on the edge of the box, who spotted Fewell off his line, but his chip was underhit and Fewell made the save.

Substitute Jon Neal must wish he hadn't been brought on when he missed a sitter in the 77th minute. A minute later Alhajie Jabbie came to the rescue, clearing a Gooding shot acrobatically off the line after he had beaten O'Hara.

The last good chance of the game fell to 'Leafe sub Paul Scott who shot on the turn from 25 yards out and the ball went just inches wide of the post.

Whyteleafe: O'Hara, Hudson, Hammond, Reeve, Broomhead, Conroy, MacLean, Piper (Murray-Price 83), Dimmock (Scott 69), Jabbie, Gray.
