Report: Sevenoaks Town 1-3 Whyteleafe

Whyteleafe maintained their play off challenge with a victory in difficult conditions with a strong wind behind them in the first half, which they took full advantage of, and successfully defended against the wind in the second half.

Leafe had two early chances to take the lead, Marvin Armstrong shooting wide in the 3rd minute when clear, then Lauris Chin with just the keeper to beat in the 5th minute put his effort wide. Both sides took a while to get to grips with the conditions. Sevenoaks only chance of the half came when Frankie Sawyer headed wide from an Osman Proni cross in the 25th minute.

Leafe took the lead in the 28th minute. Valentino Carpene was brought down in the box by Thomas Ripley and Bradley Wilson's well struck spot kick gave Catherall no chance. Leafe were very quickly 2 up when from wide on the left, Kelvin Ogboe swung the ball into the box, and with the wind behind it, Catherall was made to look rather  foolish as it drifted over him and into the net.

The third followed in the 42nd minute with a well struck shot from Chin from the edge of the box, low and hard into the net. Bentley Graham went close to adding a fourth on the stroke of half time firing just over from 25 yards.Things got a lot more tricky in the second half defending against a strong wind, but the first chance of the half fell to the visitors, Wilson's cross finding Carpene but his shot was saved.

Alex Fiddes pulled one back in the 64th minute with a fine shot from the edge of the box. Josh Dorling headed home 2 minutes later following a corner but was disallowed for offside. Both sides made all of their substitutions, with Leafe working hard to hold on to their lead. They also continued to look dangerous on the break, Ogboe going close on 79 minutes then Junior Aikhionbare had a 25 yard effort saved

For the hosts, Jack Miles saw an 82nd minute header hit the bar, and following up, Kenny Pogue shot over the bar. Tyler McCarthy ensured that Leafe took the points home with 2 good late saves from a Miles header and a volley from Sawyer.
