Report: Hastings Utd 3-0 WhyteleafeWhyteleafe went down to a strong Hastings side who go 5 points clear in second place with Leafe clinging on to 5th place. If both sides remained there, they would meet again in the play offs and Leafe would need a much improved performance, although 2 previous victories against Hastings show that it can be done.
This was not a good day for Leafe. Having already nearly given away a goal with some sloppy passing close to goal, they conceded in the 13th minute, losing the ball on the edge of the area to Jordoy Mongoy who took the ball towards goal and shot low and hard inside the near post
A minute later Matt O'Donoghue went close to an immediate equaliser, forcing Charlie Horlock to tip over his 20 yard effort following a good ball from Bentley Graham. Graham then had a shot blocked from the resultant corner however O'Donoghue's effort was to prove to be the only time Horlock was seriously tested.
There was little action in the rest of the half, the hosts desrving to go in to the interval ahead. Hastings increased their lead in the 52nd minute, Mongoy heading home from ex Leafe winger Lanre Azeez's cross.
Another ex Leafe favourite Daniel Ajakaiye looked certain to increase the lead in the 79th minute when he chipped the Leafe defence but was just off target of the open goal. Mongoy completed his hat trick in the 82nd minute, heading home a Jack Dixon cross to ensure the 3 points went to the hosts.
