Whyteleafe FC

Report: Faversham Town 0-0 Whyteleafe

Whyteleafe  came away with a point from a dour game on a heavy pitch. With the squad severely depleted due to injury and manager Harry Hudson ill, they would have happily taken a point, and with other results in their favour, climbed up to 4th into the play off places. Leafe were forced to make 5 changes following all the injuries picked up in the Sittingbourne game and were only able to name 3 substitutes.

Leafe had the edge in the first half but it was the hosts who had the first chance, Tyler McCarthy saving Luke Griffiths' 10th minute shot. Whyteleafe then enjoyed a good spell, but were denied 3 times by Stefan Wright blocking their shots. Firstly Martin Sontan made a good run into the box, the ball ran out to Bentley Graham who shot from 25 yards, but Wright managed to get in the way and deflect it for a corner.  The same player blocked a Cory Andrews effort in the 14th minute following a good run, and in the 20th minute, once again blocked an Andrews shot following a good run and cross from Matt O'Donoghue.

Peter Wedgeworth came back from injury sooner than he would have liked due to the shortage of available players, but following an earlier knock was struggling and had to come off in the 29th minute.

Griffiths had the hosts best chance in the 37th minute, his goalbound shot was cleared off the line by Nathan Campbell. A minute later it was the visitors who went close, Antonio Hamilton hit the bar with a shot from a Graham corner. Junior Aikhionbare had the final chance of the half, his shot well saved by Luke Watkins.

The second half was a dull affair, with play largely confined to midfield and very few chances created. The few opportunities that did come were for Leafe with McCarthy remaining untroubled in goal. The only real chance of the half fell to O'Donoghue who was picked out in the box by Andrews but Watkins made a good save to deny him.

The game drifted quietly to a 0-0 draw with no sign of either side claiming a late winner Izzy Adebayo did make one promising run into the box but slipped before he could get a shot in.
Whyteleafe Team: McCarthy,  Hamilton, O'Donoghue, Campbell, McGeoghegan, Orome, Andrews, Graham, Parker, Sontan (Adebayo 71), Wedgeworth (Aikhionbare 29).   sub not used Duru.
