Whyteleafe FC Donate to Kitmas AppealA big thank you to those of you who donated to our Merry Kitmas Appeal.
During December the club collected several kit bags full of unwanted football clothing any unwanted sports kit to support underprivileged young people involved in sport.
First team manager Harry Hudson was on hand to meet representatives from some of the charities who will benefit from the appeal before the recent home match against Greenwich Borough FC. They included Alex Tugume from Talents Academy (Uganda), Osman Sesay from London School of Science & Technology (Sierra Leone) and Elizabeth Anyo from Immaculate Heart of Mary (Uganda).
“I am extremely grateful to everybody at Whyteleafe FC and on behalf of the charities which will benefit from the appeal I would like to express our sincere gratitude to the club and individuals who donated kit,” said Julian Chenery, who co-ordinates the distribution of kit through his Wear a Sports Day charity.
“It means a lot. I travelled to South Africa for the World Cup and saw first-hand how much joy the children and young people get from the simple donation of a football shirt or pair of boots. Since then I have had the pleasure of working with representatives from other countries in Africa and know from them how football can keep youngsters out of gangs, off the streets and in education, giving them a future. Your support will help that.”
