Report: Whyteleafe 1-1 Faversham Town
Whyteleafe got a well deserved point with a last gasp equaliser having had much the better of the chances throughout the game. After a quiet opening the first attempt on goal was from Josh Adusei, a 25 yard effort which produced a good save from Simon Overland, who was the visitors outstanding player of the day.
Danny Walders' inswinging corner in the 16th minute was punched clear from under the bar by Leafe debutant goalkeeper Kyle Merson. Two minutes later Sam Clayton broke and from the edge of the box, saw his shot headed away by a defender. A minute later Lanre Azeez did well to win the ball on the right and his cross found Vance Bola in space on the edge of the box but his effort went wide.
Walder gave the ball away to Bola in a dangerous position in the 36th minute but his shot went over the bar. A minute later Bola put Azeez through on goal but his shot was well saved by Overland. The final chance of the half saw the roles reversed, with Azeez setting Bola up but Overland made a great save to block his shot with his feet.
George Monger had a good chance for the visitors in the 55th minute, forcing a good save from Merson. The Lillywhites took the lead in the 67th minute. Luca Wrightmam brought down Harry Stannard in the box and Walder's fine spot kick gave Merson no chance. Tommy Hutchings almost replied instantly for Leafe forcing another good save from Overland seconds after the restart. Hutchings then sent Clayton down the left in the 75th minute. He cut inside and once more Overland saved his shot.
Azeez made a fine run down the right and his cross clipped the bar and went to safety. Leafe were piling on the pressure in search of an equaliser. Joseph DeBayo headed over from an 87th minute Clayton corner. Whyteleafe equaliser finally came in the 90th minute. Clayton's swinging free kick from wide on the right was met by Azeez' well timed run and his firm header found the back of the net to give Leafe a point.
